Amazon is one of the world’s largest eCommerce marketplaces
Amazon is one of the world’s largest and most competitive eCommerce marketplaces, with over two million active sellers worldwide, including around 280,000 in the UK*. For individuals, sole traders, and growing UK businesses, Amazon offers access to a global customer base and the ability to scale far beyond traditional retail.
However, selling successfully on Amazon involves far more than listing products. Sellers must manage complex settlement reports, platform and fulfilment fees, inventory costs, VAT obligations, and increasingly strict compliance requirements—often across multiple channels or jurisdictions.
Without a clear accounting structure, it becomes difficult to understand true profitability, manage cash flow, or stay compliant with HMRC. That’s why Amazon sellers benefit from working with specialist accountants who understand the platform and can turn Amazon data into accurate, actionable financial reporting.
Be an Amazon seller UK
Running a profitable Amazon business in the UK requires more than tracking sales alone. To stay in control, you need clear visibility over your income, expenses, fees, VAT obligations, and overall financial performance.
Accurate reporting allows you to understand which products are performing well, how platform and fulfilment costs affect margins, and whether your pricing strategy supports sustainable growth. It also helps ensure you maintain sufficient stock levels, manage cash flow effectively, and comply with UK tax requirements as your business scales.
With the right accounting systems and professional support in place, Amazon sellers can focus on growing their brand with confidence, knowing their finances are organised and up to date.

What type of accountancy services
do Amazon sellers need?
Amazon sellers require accounting support that goes beyond basic bookkeeping. An accountant who understands eCommerce and marketplace selling can manage the day-to-day financial administration while helping you stay compliant and financially informed.
This typically includes bookkeeping, VAT compliance, management accounts, and clear reporting on sales, fees, and profitability. With accurate records in place, you’ll know exactly how much tax is due and when, without last-minute surprises or unnecessary stress.
By outsourcing these responsibilities to a specialist Amazon accountant, you free up time to focus on product sourcing, marketing, and customer experience—while maintaining confidence that your finances are being handled correctly.
Selling on Amazon marketplace
Selling through Amazon Seller Central involves a range of fees, subscriptions, and fulfilment costs that can significantly impact profitability if not properly monitored. These include referral fees, fulfilment charges, advertising spend, and monthly subscription costs.
Without clear financial reporting, these expenses can quickly erode margins. Regular reviews of your Amazon costs and performance allow you to identify inefficiencies, adjust pricing, and make informed decisions that protect profitability.
Professional accounting support ensures these costs are accurately tracked, reconciled, and reported—giving you a clear picture of how your Amazon marketplace activity is performing and where improvements can be made.
Amazon accounting software & integrations
Accurate Amazon accounting starts with the right integrations — but software alone isn’t enough. We combine proven cloud accounting tools with specialist oversight to ensure your Amazon sales data is recorded correctly and reconciled in line with HMRC requirements.
We integrate Amazon Seller Central with Xero and trusted add-on tools to give you clear visibility over sales, fees, VAT, and cash flow, without relying on manual spreadsheets or guesswork.
Our Amazon integration support includes:
- Amazon settlement statement reconciliation in Xero
- FBA and FBM transaction handling
- Automated tracking of Amazon fees, refunds, and adjustments
- Inventory and cost-of-goods visibility using connected tools
- Secure access to real-time financial reporting
- Cloud bookkeeping with paperless workflows
As a Xero Platinum Partner and award-winning accounting firm, Fusion Accountants ensures your Amazon integrations support accurate accounting — not just data collection. We handle setup, optimisation, and ongoing management so your systems scale as your sales grow.
QuickBooks accounting for Amazon sellers
The Amazon Business Purchases app connects your Amazon business account to QuickBooks. It saves time and keeps your books current.
The app imports your Amazon Business purchases into QuickBooks, categorising and linking them to your bank or credit card records. Then, you review and approve the work.
Note: The Amazon Business Purchases app works only with Amazon Business accounts. It cannot connect your personal Amazon or Amazon Seller account to QuickBooks.
The app then starts importing your Amazon Business purchases into QuickBooks. If there are many to import, you may not see them all right away. Do not worry; the app keeps going until the job is done.
After the initial import, the app checks your Amazon Business account four times daily and imports the latest transactions into QuickBooks.
Note: Currently, the app cannot update QuickBooks more frequently or on-demand.
As a QuickBooks Platinum Pro Advisor, we have the experience, accreditation, and know-how to help clients achieve small business success.

FAQ ‘s
Do Amazon sellers need to register for VAT in the UK?
Yes, many Amazon sellers are required to register for VAT earlier than traditional businesses. VAT obligations depend on where your stock is held, whether you use FBA, and where your customers are based. We assess your setup and ensure you’re registered correctly and remain fully compliant with HMRC.
How are Amazon fees and settlement reports accounted for?
Amazon settlements include multiple fees, refunds, adjustments, and charges that must be reconciled accurately. We review Amazon settlement statements in detail to ensure sales, fees, and VAT are recorded correctly in your accounts, giving you a clear view of true profitability.
Do you support both FBA and FBM sellers?
Yes. We support Amazon sellers using Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA), Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM), or a combination of both. Each model has different accounting and VAT considerations, which we handle as part of your ongoing support.
Can you integrate Amazon with Xero or QuickBooks?
Yes. We integrate Amazon Seller Central with Xero or QuickBooks using trusted tools and oversee the setup to ensure data flows accurately. Importantly, we manage and review the data — software supports the accounting, it doesn’t replace it.
Do you support Amazon sellers selling internationally?
Yes. We work with UK-based Amazon sellers trading across multiple marketplaces and jurisdictions. Where applicable, we advise on VAT obligations, reporting requirements, and accounting structures to support international growth.
Is Amazon accounting different from standard eCommerce accounting?
Yes. Amazon accounting involves settlement-based reporting, complex fee structures, and stricter VAT considerations. That’s why we position this as a specialist service — generic eCommerce bookkeeping is often not sufficient for Amazon sellers.
