How does Dext work?
The software collects and extracts data from receipts and invoices, resulting in lower costs, easier bookkeeping, and real-time accounting. It quickly tracks, reads, and stores receipts and invoices.
The software uses advanced optical character recognition (OCR) to identify fonts and handwriting styles to convert scanned paper documents, PDF files, and digital camera images into editable and searchable data.

Once Invoice Fetch is enabled on your account, you will need to provide your credentials for your suppliers. They will then enter your ‘connected suppliers’ list, and Dext will do the rest – automatically pulling in your invoices. Invoice Fetch keeps your documents, past, present, and future, all in one place.

Does Xero integrate with Dext?
Integrating your Dext and Xero account will ensure that receipts, invoices, and other paperwork are extracted and formatted in the perfect way for your end-to-end financial process. If you would like help with this, we can walk you through the process.
How do I capture items in Dext?
Dext reads and extracts data from your receipts, invoices, and other financial paperwork quickly and easily. Instantly capture a receipt by taking a photo with the app, or forward items to your unique Dext email-in address. The app will extract key information from the submitted document. You then review the data in your Dext inbox and either publish it to your cloud accounting software or export as a csv.
What do I get as part of the 14-day free trial?
Everyone who takes out a 14 day free trial of Dext will experience their Business Plus plan (they’re most popular), with 5 user licenses and 300 receipt scans. You will get the full range of listed functionality for two weeks. You can take out a trial of Dext Business Plus without needing to provide any payment information up-front. You may then choose to stay on Business Plus or move to one of their other paid plans after your trial.
How long does it take Dext to process financial paperwork?
Dext integrates seamlessly with the leading online accounting software, including Xero, Quickbooks, Sage and many more. Additional integrations are available on higher-tier packages. Unfortunately, they do not currently offer integration with desktop accounting software.
Can I invite my accountant to join my Dext account?
If you work with an Accounting/Bookkeeping firm (like us), invite them to view your Dext data at no extra cost. You can do this by visiting the Account Details tab of the Account Settings page. Give us a call if you need help setting up the process.
How much does Dext cost?
Dext’s monthly subscription prices range from £9.99 (excl VAT) per month for a single user (50 items processed each month) to £190 (ex VAT) per month for a multi-user (675 items processed each month) and all points in-between.
Can I manage my suppliers in Dext?
Supplier lists are fed through automatically from your Accounting Software or the items you submit to Dext. They can be easily customised from the ‘Suppliers’ tab at the top of the page. You can view or edit your supplier list as part of their Plus or Premium plans.
Does Dext process sales invoices?
Yes. All your invoice info under one roof. Using Dext’s all-new Sales Workspace, you can manage all of your documents and data in one place.
